The country of Belize is located in Central America. More specifically it is on the northern coast near Guatemala
Belmopan is the capital of Belize. Another very large city in Belize is Belize City.
The official name of Belize is Belize. The official name of Belize in Spanish is Belice.
The population in Belize is about 331,000 people. 44.7% of the population lives in urban areas and 55.3 percent of the population lives in rural areas
The currency used in Belize is the Belize dollar (BZ$).
One US dollar is equal to two Belize dollars.
The official language in Belize is English.
Other main languages are Kriol and Spanish (Español).
The major industries in Belize are agriculture (above), tourisim, and services. Recently crude oil has been found in the town of Spanish Lookout.
The land area of Belize is 8,867 square miles.
It is roughly the size of Massacusetts.
The climate in Belize is hot. The average temperature in Belize is 84° F.
About half of the land in Belize is forested with many rivers. The other half is swampy and marshy.
Two major bodies of water are the Belize River (above) and the Gulf of Honduras (below)
The two colors on the flag represent characteristics. Red represents hardiness, bravery, strength, and valour. Blue represents vigilance, truth, justice, loyalty, and perserverance. The tools, figures, and tree represent the logging industry.
